The Level 3 Advanced and Creative Hair Professional Apprenticeship provides the learner with the knowledge, understanding and skills to work creatively as an employed and/or self-employed hair specialist.
This qualification is aimed at those learners who hold a recognised Level 2 or equivalent hairdressing or barbering qualification.
Advanced and Creative Hair Professionals are creative, passionate, and driven professionals who work without supervision, managing themselves and others when required. Learners will provide a quality service, whilst working to the highest standards and continuously developing their personal and professional skills.
Learners take ownership of their work and client lists, accept responsibility, are proactive, flexible and adaptable, plan their work and time; they aim for excellence by taking exceptional pride in their work and industry. Learners will deliver hair fashion forward trends, which are innovative styles inspired by current images and their own creativity, individual flair, imagination and interpretation.
Typical Course Duration
Learners must achieve all mandatory units which include:
- Provide client consultation services
- Advanced and creative cutting services
- Creative fashion styling and finishing services
- Provide smoothing and strengthening services
- Advanced and creative colour services
- Use fashion forward trends in hair, creative and precision techniques to create a collection of hairstyle looks
End-point Assessment (EPA)
Learners are required to complete an End-point-assessment.
The End-point Assessment will consist of three different assessment methods:
- a Knowledge Test – The Knowledge Test will be graded Fail or Pass and is conducted online and under exam conditions.
- Observation and questioning
- Professional Discussion.
The EPA will provide a snapshot holistic assessment of your practical skills, similar to an industry trade test. You will demonstrate that you can complete a range of services on a number of models to industry standards and within commercial timings. Your consultation skills, communication skills, safe working practices, professionalism, values and behaviours will be assessed by practical observation and oral questioning.
Learners must be aged 16+ and have lived in the EU for 3 years.
This qualification is aimed at those learners who hold a recognised Level 2 or equivalent hairdressing qualification.
English and Maths Requirement
Advanced Creative Professional require Level 2 Functional skills English and Maths.
What could this qualification lead to?
Learners who achieve this qualification are able to work as Creative Hair Stylists, Advanced Senior Stylists and/or Specialist Technicians.
Learners could work in a variety of different sectors, which may include:
- Commercial salons
- Senior stylist/manager
- Independent/self-employed/mobile/home-based salon settings
- Product manufacturing
- Training/teaching within private centres/colleges
- Cruise liners
Typical course duration: 12 months
Eligibility criteria: Learners must be aged 16+ and have lived in the EU for 3 years.
