Mandatory units include: creatively style and dress hair, creatively cut hair using a combination of techniques, creatively colour and lighten hair, provide client consultation services. The optional section of this qualification allows the learner to choose specialist units the learner would like to study, depending upon their chosen career pathway as a hairdresser/stylist and includes; fulfil salon reception duties, provide a variety of relaxing services, haircolour correction services, provide creative hair extension services, create a variety of permed effects, develop, enhance and evaluate creative hairdressing skills, provide specialist hair and scalp treatments, contribute to the planning, implementation and evaluation of promotional activities, contribute to the financial effectiveness of the business, cut men’s hairstyles. The learner will be expected to gather evidence of both the practical skills and underpinning knowledge for each unit the learner will study and create a ‘portfolio of evidence’ for the qualification. On successful completion of this qualification the learner will be able to apply for employment as a hairdresser/stylist.
Learners must be aged 16+. Entry onto this qualification can be via previous attainment of a Level 1 qualification in beauty therapy and/or a successful skills test and interview. Please talk to a member of our friendly team if you are concerned about entry requirements.
There are no formal English and Maths requirements for this course. Learners may be required to complete a successful skills test and/or interview to check their suitability for this course.
Learners who successfully complete this qualification are eligible to become a State Registered Hairdresser (SRH) with The Hair Council.
