This session’s aim is to support for parents who are searching and applying for employment. The group session will give participants peer support as well as an understanding environment to discuss their concerns or barriers in returning to work. In the session they will identify career options and goals, discuss childcare options available to them, identify entitlements that they may be eligible for in relation to childcare, complete better off calculator checks, and explore childcare options in school holidays.
This session is aimed at giving the participant an understanding of the processes in starting a new job. This includes the roles and responsibilities within health and safety, as well as onboarding activities such as ‘inductions’ and providing correct documentation. Participants will be asked to consider appropriate attitudes and behaviours when starting a new role, and how they may overcome ‘first-day’ nerves.
The aim of this session is to give participants an introduction to the Administration sector. The session focuses on giving a comprehensive overview of the role of Administration Assistant. Outlines the role and general duties that would be undertaken by and Administration Assistant. It explores the skills and knowledge required, as well as the entry requirements and progression routes of roles within the industry. The session also explores Civil Servant roles, explaining what they are and entail, where to find the roles and the qualifications that are available.
This session aims to give participants an understanding of the range of different the roles and settings within the care sector. They will discuss and explore the different roles and settings to be able to identify which ones are suitable for them. Progression routes will be explored and which mandatory training and optional qualifications are available. They will identify the values and core principles of care and will identify the personal qualities that employers look for when hiring and how important these are. They will gain an understanding of Safeguarding, Equality and Diversity, Person Centred Care and of the CQC.
This session will give participants an informative overview of the cleaning sector. It will inform them of the knowledge and skills required to work in a cleaning position and equip them with the knowledge that they need to apply for local cleaning positions. In the session they will identify and search for local cleaning companies in the area. Recognising the variety of cleaning roles and settings that they are in. Participants will gain an understanding of the skills required, experience and qualifications that employers will look for. They will learn about cleaning schedules and the importance of having these in place and ensuring that they are kept up to date. They will identify equipment that is used in the cleaning industry, the importance of training and maintenance of equipment. Health and Safety will be covered, including COSHH and manual handling.
This session will help participants to understand what it means to work in an educational environment, to understand what type of job roles are available and an opportunity to discuss a range of different roles in the education sector. Participants will gain an understanding of what the requirements are for these job roles. Looking at skills, strengths, experience and qualifications that may be required in the different roles in education. They will identify what Safeguarding, SEND and who OFSTED are, giving them a broader insight into the sector and the standards that are set. They will also identify and recognise the challenges that the sector faces.
This session will give an informative introduction into the Hospitality sector. The aim is to give an insight into the career options in Hospitality, including the different outlets that cover the broad range of Hospitality and the progression routes that are available. The session will give participants an understanding of the skills required and the qualifications that are on offer within the industry. Participants will explore the importance of personal traits such as adaptability, initiative, adaptability and multi tasking, when working in the industry. Participants will identify and gain an understanding of the laws within the hospitality sector, including the role of Trading Standards for weights and measures, Challenge 25 and other legislative acts.
This session will give participants and introduction to the retail sector. It will include identifying what good customer service is, the importance of customer service and how it relates to the success of the business. Participants will be able to recognise the different retail outlets and sectors that they combine. Participants will gain an understanding of the duties of a retail assistant, the skills that they require and personal attributes that will make them successful. They will also explore career progression routes and the qualifications that are offered in the industry. Participants will have an introduction to legislation that covers the Retail sector and will also become familiar with the jargon used in retail.
This session will give participants an understanding the different types of storage conditions for products in a warehouse and how to maintain storage areas safely. They will learn about the goods in/intake procedure, providing them with an understanding of basic quality control of goods coming in, and quality standards prior to dispatch.
Ideal for participants considering a starting a business or taking on a self-employed position. This session equips participants with the foundational knowledge to take a business from idea to legally defined entity, with an understanding of legal obligations (such as those set forth by HMRC) along with an appreciation of primary and support activities including marketing and fundraising. This session also looks at available support such as business mentoring organisation Momentic and Companies House.
This session is designed to introduce three key sectors and their influence on the job market. We will discuss the highlights of these sectors, including key legislation, and encourage participants to identify potential career paths between various sectors. It will invite participants to consider their skills, value, and career aspirations through the ‘7 steps’ to creating career goals.
The Networking session is aimed at preparing participants for attending jobs fairs, and proactive job searching. This will give them an understanding of how to give a positive impression, identifying how to develop their unique elevator pitch. They will learn how to become more confident in their approach when speaking to employers/recruiters. It will help participants to understand why company research is important before the event and how this will help them to identify who they will target time with at the event . Participants will set goals for the networking event in the session, to help them better manage their expectations and nerves. They will also identify ways to follow up after the event and to continue their networking online on platforms such as LinkedIn.
